The Story of A Painting

Winter is descending on the valley and the land is beginning to freeze. At 59 ° North, cold happens. The butterflies are all gone. My garden is down and there is nothing to do until spring. All the fall color that brightened the farm is now pale and ice is forming in the river below.

But loss hangs heavy in the air. . .

Her name was Lettie and she was the sweetest creature I have ever known. She was the queen of our farm and her absence is still raw. I began work on this painting for her as soon as I came in from her resting place in the forest. I didn't want this painting all sad. I wanted to show her beautiful spirit. This piece means so much to me. I hope you like it too. This one is for Lettie.
